    To provide delegates with the requisite skills and knowledge to perform operative signing, lighting and guarding duties in compliance with the NRSWA Act 1991, which stipulates the safety measures for themselves and others.
    This course is for a novice worker and covers the setting out of traffic lights, signs, cones and barriers over the course of two days.

    This 2-day novice course teaches you how to:
    • Conduct site surveys to identify site requirements.
    • Ensure pedestrian safety and access.
    • Reduce traffic disruption and maintain traffic safety.
    • Consider 'special needs' of site users.
    • Estimate the 'working space' needed for plant and equipment.
    • Perform on-site risk assessment and establish a safe system of working.
    • Choose and use PPE appropriately.
    • Set up and remove temporary footways, traffic lanes and safety zones.
    • Check equipment is fit for use.
    • Position SLG equipment on site correctly
    • Commission and de-commission signals properly
    • Adjust signal controls to suit traffic conditions.
    • Work safely and follow best practices.
    • Check equipment is fit for use.
    • Demonstrate sufficient knowledge through oral or written questions.

    This course is for those delegates who reinstate roadways in line with the 2nd Edition Specification for reinstatement of openings in the Highway and the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 (NRSWA), revised 2002 Code of Practice.
    New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) training is compulsory for anyone who may be involved in working on and adjacent to the public highways.
    Pre-Requisites: The minimum entry requirement is a good understanding of spoken and written English.
